Hotel Santa Caterina would be my top pick as the best luxury hotel in Amalfi Coast. It's exquisite view, and extraordinary customer service is hard to beat. It is family owned and was passed down to generations. To have a business endure a thriving industry for centuries says so much about it. I have stayed in different luxury hotels around the globe, and my stay here was the most remarkable one. Santa Caterina has so much to offer. From spa service, two on-site restaurants, private beach club and a garden of lemon and bougainvillea overlooking the Meditteranean. And not to mention, their secluded private suites where you can enjoy your own infinity pool. These suites are perfect for honeymooners or even if you want to spend your vacation in private.
We arrived around 8 pm, and I wasn't expecting such a warm welcome. Upon check-in, we were greeted by the Reservation Manager, Valeria. She gave us a quick tour of the hotel and quickly showed us their amenities. She knew how exhausted we were heading to the coast of Amalfi from Rome and she promptly booked our dinner table at Restaurant Santa Caterina.
We headed down to the restaurant, and our servers welcomed us. I requested to be seated at the balcony. Though you can hardly tell from photos, it has a beautiful view of the shimmering lights from the other town. It has a very upscale ambiance, and the live piano music has added more to its romantic setting. They have a wide variety of seafood and pasta menu. I enjoyed the avocado appetizer they served (I wish I remembered the name). I love shrimp and fish so without a doubt, I ordered their seafood plate. The shrimp were fried in batter and had a very creamy taste to it. I knew I was getting high quality of food because the oil was not soaking through even though it was a fried meal. JP is a big pasta fan, and he got the Ravioli di Zucchine al Limone con Formaggio Fresco di Bufala, and its luscious lemon sauce is what won his heart. They also have a full range of wine list and presented us some of their prestigious Rosé labels. Our dinner at Restaurant Santa Caterina was an ultimate date night experience.
Our room has a full ocean sea view, and it was the perfect spot to watch the sunrise. JP and I set our alarm early so we can catch the sight of the horizon from our room. Waking up to the beautiful view of the Mediterranean sea is the perfect way to start your day. Even the view from the bath is breathtaking, and you would never want to leave your room.
Every time I go on vacation, one thing that excites me in the morning is the hotel's breakfast. Santa Caterina never failed when I saw their huge breakfast selection. They have a different variety of international breakfast, from yogurts to cheese plates, smoked salmon, bread, pastries and so on. I had spoken to one of their hotel patrons during our ride down to the town, and she told me that they had been patrons of Hotel Santa Caterina or over ten years and their breakfast buffet is their favorite. True enough, even if you are not a morning person, their breakfast should not be missed. I am pretty sure that the sumptuous food or the magnificent view will motivate you to get up early.
Amalfi has a lot of great trails and spots to see, however, if you are staying at Santa Caterina, you do not need to leave the hotel. There is a lemon garden that will lead you down to the Private Beach Club where the warm Mediterranean water awaits you.
Another spot I enjoyed the most is the IL Grottino Bar. Fun fact: Did you know that they are one of the few restaurants that still utilizes the Brick Oven to make their pizza? And this what makes their pizza different from the others. The toppings, as well as the dough, are evenly crispy which cannot be achieved when cooked in a different method. I enjoyed hanging out here after basking out in the sun.
I am very picky when it comes to skincare and body treatments. I only have one body that's why I take care of it well. I was first introduced to Darphin Paris by my mom as it is the only skincare that she has been using or years. I was elated when I found out that the Wellness Spa at Santa Caterina exclusively uses their products. Their spa caters to an extensive menu of services. From different facial treatments, body treatments and massages that use natural oils. You would leave feeling relaxed and rejuvenated.
Our experience in Hotel Santa Caterina is genuinely magical and remarkable. I wanted to thank all the beautiful staffs especially their Reservations Manager Valeria D'Amato, Hotel Manager, Andrew Camera and last but not the least Mr. Crescenzo Gargano, who co-owns the hotel together with his Family Gambardella-Gargano-Camera for making this trip possible.
